Abstract This work deals with the application of open-source computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code MULTALL to analysis tube-axial fans. The has been widely validated in literature for high-speed turbomachine flows but not applied yet low-speed tutbomachines. aim this is assess degree reliability as a tool simulating internal flow industrial axial-flow fan rotors. To end, predictions steady-state air-flow field annular sector 315 mm obtained by 18.3 are compared those two state-of-the-art CFD codes and experimental data global aerodynamic performance pitch-wise averaged velocity distribution downstream rotor. All Reynolds-averaged Navier–Stokes (RANS) calculations were performed on either fully structured hexahedron or hexa-dominant grids using classical formulations algebraic turbulence models. pressure curve trend aeraulic efficiency stable operation range predicted show very good agreement both other results.
